With some self-irony and a twinkle in the eyes we pay a tribute to the phenomenon of men wearing sandals and the right to be yourself. The beloved characters DON and GNU, known from the Reumert nominated trilogy Men in Sandals, fight both for and against each other on placing the plank correctly!

An outdoor pop-up performance filled with raw physicality, crooked stunts and high level slapstick-comedy.

Duration: 30 min

Ride! Sing! Repeat! is a mobile opera performance where four opera singers tour the city of Helsingør in some sort of open party bus, and perform short, site-specific mini operas.

Meet characters like Escamillo, Violetta, Musetta and Prince Orlofsky who are just living that life.

They bring classic aries and young energy, unleash their voices and set the street alight with maximum drama and high decibels. The performance challenges the conventions in opera and brings the music up close to the audience.

Meet them as they sing and serenade their way through the streets of Helsingør.

They will appear where you least expect it, but you can be sure to hear them as they approach!

Their best playlist will sound from their soundbox with the biggest opera bangers!

Villa Strand and Helsingor Kommunes Sommerferieaktiviteter invites you to Orla Frøsnapper.

The rumor says that he once swallowed a living frog, that is probably why he is called “Orla Frogsnapper”.

Ole Lund Kirkegaard is the writer behind the beloved story about the worst bully in town and his chase after the little and ’’innocent’’ boy. The tale ends in a circus tent where the great canon-king is to be found!

André Andersen plays all the roles: The smoking Orla Frogsnapper, the blacksmith of the city, the strong (!) Mister Strong, the screaming Fru Olsen, the human canon-ball Don Kraus and the biking dog. And the audience – gets to be the audience in the final circus-show!

In Hornbæk the performance is presented in cooporation with Hotel Hornbækhus and Villa Strand and in Nordvest it is presented with Helsingor Kommunes Sommerferieaktiviteter, by making the tickets free for everyone just stop by.

Two men, two brothers, friends stroll around occupying themselves peacefully. Slowly out of their investigative and curious nature, a play with objects, space and body arise. Music is born when apple pieces are thrown around in the air, seeming accidentally land in the mouth of a frantic guitarist. They push each other to ever wilder challenges – until one of them becomes the target.

To the rhythm of live music, dance and acrobatics melt together with axe throwing, flying apples and Chinese pole in a unique test of balance and precision – spiced with the unpredictability of things. Cool as blues, heavy as rock, this is circus with a hint of freedom.

About the company

Maxime Dautremont and Foucauld Falguerolles met in 2003 in Brussels where they trained circus. Acrobatics & juggling for Maxime, and Chinese Pole for Foucauld. They started a very good friendship. An immersive performance using the area as a playground for our imagination.

The performers work with what the space has to offer, whether that be time travel: Recalling historical sounds of the space or discovering in real time. Moving through the shipyard, our bodies, our feet, our ears are invited into real life storytelling created with the fragments of tales left behind and the lingering narratives eager to start their journey.

This is a performance for lovers of spontaneity who will allow themselves to be swept up for the ride. We invite you to laugh, sigh and experience a movement of impulses to add a new layer to the story of the Old Shipyard.

GREEN STREETS OF EUROPE PROJECT – RESIDENCY

Kajen Company are in their final residency at Passage Festival and are part of the European project Green Streets of Europe (2023–2025). Last Spring, they had their first residency – now they have further developed their artistic ideas and one last public showing.

In the Green Streets of Europe project, artists and festivals work together to rethink conventional structures for the production and international touring of performing arts works in public spaces. By opening up artistic residencies and workspaces to include local citizens and audiences, we believe it is possible to create longer-lasting and more sustainable formats and relationships together.

How do we live I a world with fewer trees – with less shadow, less protection?

The participatory walking performance “In the Shadow of the Tree” will explore the relationship between humans and trees in a world where some homo sapiens can no longer recognise tree species, their names, or their significance in their lives.

As a living being biologically similar to humans, a tree is subjected to intense exploitation. Together with people of Helsingør, we will reflect on how to live in a world where the shade of trees becomes a rarity.

In the spring of 2024, Krista Burāne was in her first residency in Helsingør as part of the Green Streets of Europe project. This presentation is a further development of that work, created in collaboration with a number of local participants, as a walk through Helsingør, featuring greetings to and small local stories about the trees.

A group of dead shipyard workers from Helsingør was forced to work as slaves for Lucifer in hell. After many years of slavery they are planning a rebellion, therefore they return to their old working place. Their goal is to defeat Lucifer and reestablish anarchy in the underworld. But they need something from the human to rebuild their power – human blood.

The demons of the island return transform a container into a dark and dreamlike universe. The audience are isolated in the dark. Metal music, 3D-sound and voices from the underworld merges together and betray your senses.

What you will experience in the container is up to you, but one thing is sure: In the darkness you are never alone.

The audience will safely be guided in and out of the experience.

Performance artist Sara Hamming flips through the book “Lost Title – a cycle of testimonies about waste” together with the audience. Searching for something useful. The book smells sweet. Alongside the printed text are pencil notes from other performances involving the book — traces of hair, cake, soil. A video performance of Lost Title at the Børsen ruin might be playing in the background: Why sweep around this double? It feels like exploitation. She flips back and forth, pounding the grey rhythm into the floor to the sound of everything that rings.
“Waste” needs magic and association.
