PASSAGE Summer Camp 2022
Again in 2022, PASSAGE Festival invited young people aged 18-25 for a free volunteer camp, supported by The European Solidarity Corps.
PASSAGE Volunteer Camp is a two-week folk high school inspired camp. In 2022, 12 young people from Poland, Austria, Germany and Denmark joined the festival.
The camp always takes place in connection with the international, annual street theatre festival PASSAGE Festival during the end of July / beginning of August in Elsinore and the surrounding areas.
The camp has two sections: First week is a creative workshop, facilitated by a professional artist. The second week, the campers join the festival crew in preparing and managing the festival sites and audiences.
In 2022, the young volunteers participated in a workshop with choreographer Mette Overgaard from Running Sculptures, working with looping choreography, improvisation and movement and finally had a showing of their work at the festival in Looping Choreography
During the second week they assisted in solving volunteer tasks in connection with the festival: way finding, preparing sites, communication and documentation, handling audience, ticketing, preparing backstage and food etc. The tasks are always in accordance with the individual capability and interest, so everyone feels both comfortable and suitably challenged.
PASSAGE Festival is one of Northern Europe’s largest international street theatre festivals. The festival presents everything from spectacular circus and street entertainment, classical street theater and experimental stage art, side by side in the city streets, alleys and squares, on beaches, in the woods, in gyms or swimming pools… in the public spaces of the city. Every year, more than 100 performing artists from all over the world come to Elsinore to perform at the festival, and attracts both locals and tourists.
With PASSAGE Volunteer Camp, we want to create meaningful and inspiring meetings, between the festival organization, volunteers, artists and the public.
