Experience 7 unrelated, short, poetic and humorous stories with puppets made of simple objects such as balloons, ping pong balls and plastic bags attached to parts of the puppeteer’s body..

Duration: 25 min.

AGE: From 4 years in company of adult

Instead of touring with a finished show, the company has turned it all upside down and decided to create SlowMo along the journey from Ireland through Europe, with stops in Cyprus, Turkey, Romania, Hungary and Germany before it ends in Elsinore. The slow travel is not merely a way of traversing geography and saving on carbon emissions: they have turned it into the framework for creating the work. Along the way, the company collects stories from the countries they visit and translates the stories and memories into a choreography. SlowMo is choreography as a travelling gift; as a series of embodied travelling postcards.

The final presentation is as an outdoor promenade performance. When mounting the work, the company will ‘map’ the travel route directly onto a section of Elsinore, and the audiences ‘travel their journey’, encountering the different dance works/cities as they journey through the work.

This presentation is happening with the support of Perform Europe as part of the SlowMo Connecting Cloughjordan Ecovillage to continental Europe via land, sea, and dance project

PASSAGE Festival invites artists, creators, performers, and everyone with an interest in performing arts, to join a conversation about the future of performing arts in public space. About the framework, conditions and the role of outdoor arts.

NORDIC STREET Sustainability of the Arts is our first step towards real dialogues and exchange of knowledge between professionals from all spectres of the field of performing arts in public space. The ambition is to continue the conversations and develop a longterm platform for theatre festivals and performing artists in the North of Europe.

This first edition will bring the artists’ experiences, wishes and visions for a sustainable future into focus, with an emphasis on dialogue, co-thinking and in-depth discussions:

NORDIC STREET PROGRAMME

“Encore une fois” (Again) is an energetic and playful show that thrills with breathtaking acrobatics and rousing creativity. Three artists, each more adventurous than the other, test the possibilities of the seesaw.

With much authenticity, courage and passion, the three young artists devote themselves to this idea: all mistakes are allowed. The circus, as in life, is about the risk, so let’s fail and start over.

So, they do: mess it all up and start over, again and again, mixing every element from ping-pong balls to saltos, all to the changing tempo of their musical creation.

DURATION: 40 minutes

At PASSAGE Festival you can experience one of 13 different, site-specific performances, presented from June to October 2021 throughout Europe as part of the PPP project.

In Helsingør, the performance is created by 16 young dancers from Scandinavia and the Czech Republic together with the renowned Aktionstheater PAN.OPTIKUM: With mirrors as a central focal point, both in a figurative sense and in the scenographic framework. The choreography is based on urban dance and hip hop, in which the youth explores our common European borders and identity.
