Through an ongoing performance, unexplained encounters may take you on a walk along the border of the unusual and the unbelievable.
When was the last time you stopped to truly observe the world around you? How long has it been since you spoke to your neighbour, talked to a merchant or that same person whose eyes you cross every day on the street?
By creating what may seem a mundane daily experience, far from any artistic creation, our performance is accessible to all citizens present in a specific area. The mundane daily experience is distorted, pushing the frontier of what’s normal and what’s not, walking along the border that separates the believable from the unbelievable.
If you are receptive and open, the theatrical reality may come to light to you some time after the encounter.
We shall push the boundaries of the audience’s perspective and bring dialogue in the public space.
Keep your ears open and raise your eyes from your smartphones, an atypical meeting may be waiting for you around the corner…
During the piece, fifteen performers move along concealed pathways carrying portable speakers that each play one layer of a composition, enveloping the public setting in a mesmerising aural sphere. As the sound sources are completely hidden from the audience, it’s the spatial movement of these subtle, continuous tones that gradually unravel the piece’s choreography – and morphing the public space into something that is about more than solely transit.

The Laughing Crowd is a celebration of laughter in all its forms. This force of nature that has the power to occupy our bodies, our minds and our relationships with others. Maybe you’ll get infected…?
Laughter can bring people together. It can be liberating, light and playful, but it can also be uncontrollable, uncomfortable and a tool to expose power and hierarchies. What happens when we let go of control and make room for the wild, the ugly, the filterless?
The Laughing Crowd celebrates the joy and community that comes from laughter, and the breathtaking, unifying energy of laughter. Laughter is used as a prism to explore the physical and aural expression of laughter, as well as its social and emotional implications: laughter can be an infectious bond between people, but can also be uncontrollable, uncomfortable, and can be a tool to display power and positioning within a group. The social mirroring of laughter therefore spans a wide range of emotions that the performance explores, distorts and magnifies. The Laughing Crowd is therefore a social dance in the basic humanity of laughter, where the audience is taken on a journey through the body’s affective expression.
In this performance installation, you can move freely around the stage area.

Interludium is a work of music without sound, where six bodies move across an open space as a ceremonial interlude that occurs as a parenthesis in time. Interludium experiments with human clichés: What unites and separates us humans as archetypes and individuals? How do we change the spaces we inhabit? What happens when the distance to other people fades?

At first glance, Antilia appears to be a classic circus arena where five artists perform their acts in rotation. Upon closer acquaintance, it is much more than that. It is a collective, a community that seeks to explore the relationship between the artist and the organizer, between the artwork and the audience, as they travel with a touring circus arena in Europe.
In Antilia, you can experience, among others:
YES LAND by Giulio Lanzafame (IT)
A clown-flooded circus performance
At first sight, it may seem like a chaotic house, but this is actually Giulio’s universe. Gulio, an eternal traveler in search of approval, is trying to put things in order and take control. Everything does not always run smoothly, but, with a little imagination, every hitch becomes an opportunity to find the positive side of things. Giulio Lanzafame combines a story about doing everything right with absurdity, charm and a dynamic combination of excessive clown, acrobatics, juggling and slackrope.

Inbetween the performances, you can meet and have a chat, not only with the artists but also with many Italian cultural figures who have traveled with the company (and who have brought an espresso machine and good Italian coffee with them…).
What is it like to be a circus artist in contemporary Europe? How do we create sustainable frameworks for European performing arts that ensure artists from the east and west, north and south can showcase their work throughout Europe?
Antilia will be located on the lawn by Sankt Olai Church throughout the festival.
Antilia is a touring circus arena inspired by circuses of bygone times when tents did not yet cover the stages. Antilia is a desire to share, dream, and create circus in an arena that encompasses not only performances but also places and emotions. Inside Antilia, you can feel the lively and direct connection between the audience and the artist in a magical and welcoming atmosphere.

La Dama Demodè by Duolinda (IT)
Is it possible to be in relationchip without knowing everything all the time?
Nowadays we live in the anxiety of communication, in the constant need to know what the other is doing, who he is with, what he has thought, when and where. Is it possible to communicate without knowing all this? Two clowns tell us a story what seem like old-fashioned concepts… indeed… DEMODè!: The beauty of the chance encounter, the purity of an unexpected gesture or the sharing of a thought in the distance.
With live music, knife throwing, juggling and lots of improvised and eccentric follies, the clowns take us into a world of both ironic comedy and musical poetry.
