WORK IN PROGRESS: Petralaions is a part of the European Hand to hand circus and residency project, and was developed in an immersion residency in Fila Arches, artisanal paper factory, France

The re-composition of a landscape in three parts, drawing inspiration from recycled paper, water, a contortioned body, pigments and sound.

From the harmonious movements, with which the paper is treated in artisanal paper processes.

From the white mass of recycled paper. From the chaotic sound of the crackling paper.

Lucia Heege Torres creates a humanoid aquarelle, based on the manufactured paper from Fila Arches, a burlesque critique of how we, human beings, set ourselves in the center of the world, and even when the time comes to act on the environmental crises, we look at the problem from our own anthropogenic perception.

WORK IN PROGRESS: Slow down is a part of the European Hand to hand circus and residency project and was developed in an immersion residency in the salt marshes of Solana Ston, Croatia. Hosted by ROOM 100, Croatia.

A circus-like and sensitive performance about this hyperactivity of life: one must always be productive and in the shortest possible time. Cooking fast, eating fast, finishing homework fast.

And all this to try then to have more time.

But, in the end, the time you have left is simply a big mass of stress, trying to regain your strength.

Time is linked to ecology and consequently to economics. And vice versa. If things were done more slowly, we would consume less, produce less garbage, use slower transport, change our impact and take care of the things around us instead of consuming them to the bone.

A starting point is the Croatian salt marshes, taking inspiration from the workers, the labor force, produced with their bodies, from their position and dialogue within all these elements that are larger than us and out of human control (the wind, the tides, the moon) and from the relationship between this economical sector and its environment: the ocean

WORK IN PROGRESS: Sar-Tan is a part of the European Hand to hand circus and residency project and was developed in an immersion residency in the codfish packaging and distribution industry in Ilhavo, Portugal, together with Bússola.

Once upon a time, on a planet teeming with life, a delicate balance reigned. From icy tundras to

lush jungles, every creature had its place in this magical tapestry of biodiversity.

However, one species, driven by insatiable desire, began to disrupt this harmony.

Sar-Tan! means cancer, the cancer of this earth that has spread to every corner of this planet

from the top of the mountains to the deep of the seas.

“During my visit at the codfish packaging industry in Ilhavo, Portugal, I saw how much harm we

cause to satisfy our hunger. Do we really need to travel such long distances for food? Do we see animals as equal living beings or just as food on our plates?”

Sar-tan is a blend of live music, acrobatics, dance, and balance, a series of engaging scenes, that will entertain and bring you new insights on our destruction of the natural balance of the world and our consumption of it until the end of us all. Like a cancer of this planet.

Sar-Tan also wants to foster a sense of togetherness and shared responsibility, to make us think about our impact on the environment and how we can make a positive difference, reducing our ecological footprint.

WORK IN PROGRESS: A part of the European Hand to hand circus and residency project and was developed in an immersion residency in the codfish packaging and distribution industry in Ilhavo, Portugal, together with Bússola.

The exploitation of codfish at the city of Ilhavo in Portugal, as well as the industrial situation of this town, are the main scenes that inspired the ground of this project.

“The environmental unbalances on the ecosystem of the ocean, overlapped to the remote reality of the workers from the packaging factories, were of great sensitivity to me. I was perceiving a global photo of ourselves, of this system, of our collective capacities vs. our humanoid panorama. We are not that far from fish, hands and feet are the main element splitting us from water. And that’s our current situation, since we are both: those looking at the fish being shipped away leaving smoothly the horizon, but also the fish, those silent creatures who has been caught. AMPHIBIA MATTER”

The performance is a reflection, a self-portrait as society, a place where new dystopias can be harbour to other realities. Maybe collective memory is something we can alter, if we can modify the order of the symbol. This could happen in one way only: by changing the emotion.

Handstands, contortion, dance and polaroid photography will invite the audience to an immersive landscape we will build together. The final result will be the installation of a collective photographic exhibition as a site-specific creation.

PlanktonPower is an interactive journey and performative workshop; via art, theatre and science you will be guided through a fascinating experience.

The SeaGuard Tower is inspired by a lifeguard tower; a base for lifeguards on the beach. But instead of focusing on the safety of bathers, The SeaGuard Tower focuses on the safety and well-being of the sea and its organisms. This art pæroject will travel through five coastal towns over the summer, with a final even at PASSAGE Festival.

A unique and creative journey

The first chapter of the Seaguard Tower, PlanktonPower, is an interactive journey where you will be guided through a fascinating experience via art, theater, and science:

The Artwork Grows, and You Can Be a Part of It

On the third day, we gather for a festive conclusion; experience an enchanting atmosphere with live music, dance, and voices from the place itself as the final plankton casting is added to the circle. The plankton forms travel with us, and the circle grows larger and larger with each coastal city, becoming a vast collective artwork. You can witness the final conclusion at the PASSAGE festival.

First, the breathing is slow, then insistent, and finally out of control. BREATH explores the breath as a transformative and life-giving figure. This allegory is performed by two female artists: Nønne Mai Svalholm and her muse, Sisse Lunøe (74 years old), along with a large inflatable yellow-black sculpture. Together, they emphasize the important potential that exists across generations in a changing world. Nønne Mai Svalholm has created the sculpture in collaboration with multi-artist Henrik Vibskov, with references to a lung, an ocean, a world, a body, a portal.

What to expect? What are the rules? Is it safe? Keep it safe is an interactive performance where we play with the flow and movement of a small crowd, testing the possibilities of the relation between audience and performers. Using dance, movement and object manipulation we create new logics and new spaces.

We move from A to B and invite people to move with us!

Passages is a dive into the deeper layers of our shared memory and the potential that emerges when we unfiltered meet our inner visions and hallucinations.

The work is a common reflection between generations, a transition, an exchange and a co-creation.

Through daily meditative practices, four performers have created individual solos. Together, these solos create a common choreographic composition that includes moments of abstraction as well as more recognizable situations. Voices and movement from subconscious layers point towards the unpredictable. Passages was originally created for the COLLECTIVE MATTER in 2021, which was performed during Aarhus Festival.
