Also joining the discussion was Catherine Mitchell, Arts Council England’s National Director for Combined Arts and head of the Stage Arts of Danish Arts Council Lars Seeberg.

Biographies (more to come)

Lars Seeberg has worked in the international arts and cultural scene for the last 30 years. As secretary general of the Aarhus Festival for 10 years he co-produced and presented a host of the most important Danish and international artists. From 2000-2005 he initiated and designed the bicentenary of fairy tale author Hans Christian Andersen. As director of see@rt he now shares his experience in the international arts field as an artistic advisor. Furthermore he was the director of Theatron – an EU-project on audience development. Lars Seeberg is chairman of the Committee for Performing Arts Project Funding and board member of The Danish Arts Foundation.

Jens Frimann Hansen has been the director of Helsingør Teater since 2003. From 2004 he developed PASSAGE Festival in collaboration with the Swedish neighboring city of Helsingborg. The festival is one of Europe’s largest international street theater festivals. Since 2018, he has also been the artistic director of SO Festival in Skegness, England. Jens Frimann Hansen has an MA in Literary Studies and holds a number of positions of trust in Danish and international theater.

Kathrin Bahr is Co-Artistic Director of street theatre festival tête à tête in Rastatt, one of the biggest festivals of its kind in Germany attracting an audience of about 100.000 people. The festival has grown to become the most important German festival for outdoor arts, inviting German and international artists to present small, medium and large scale open-air productions to a big audience and European promoters.

Anna Giribet has a degree in Economics (University of Barcelona), a Masters and a Postgraduate on Cultural Management (UOC – University Pompeu Fabra). From 2011 to 2018 she has been the assistant programmer of the FiraTàrrega artistic department, and the Artistic director since 2019. FiraTàrrega is an international performing arts market which has been held annually in Tàrrega since 1981. A shop window for creativity, it boasts a heterogenous artistic programme paying special attention to outdoor arts and the public space. FiraTàrrega is an exhibition space for contemporary performing arts; a meeting point and place of contact, hiring and exchange for individuals operating in this cultural market.

Fanni Nánay graduated in Hungarian and Polish philology and cultural anthropology in Pécs (MA), and theatre studies in Cracow (PhD). In 2008 she founded PLACCC International Festival of Site-specific Art and Art in Public Space. She also works as freelance organiser and programmer for Hungarian festivals and writes theatre reviews.

Joe Mackintosh is the Artistic Director of Out There Arts (formerly SeaChange Arts)– National Centre for Outdoor Arts and Circus in the UK coastal town of Great Yarmouth. He is the founder and director of the Out There International Festival of Street Arts and Circus since 2008 which annually attracts audiences of over 60,000 people to a weekend programme of 40-60 UK artistic companies. Out There Arts is a producing organisation and runs the Drill House Outdoor Arts and Circus Creation Space for artistic residencies, events, circus school classes and community work – the only such full time dedicated facility of its kind in the UK. Out There has operated as an International Gateway and was built up through over 20 EU projects over 10 years – this focus continues despite Brexit.

Federico Toso is an actor, performer, director of street and urban theater shows, with particular attention to the new dramaturgical composition for the public space. He created and directed the companies Instabile Urga and Voyages Extraordinaires as well as managed the independent network of Bardamu.Org artists. Since 2015 he directs the National Federation of Street Arts and in 2020 he was one of the promoters of the national coordination of Spazio Pubblico dal Vivo (Live Public Space), born after the Covid-19 emergency. Today he is actively involved in the Arts and Entertainment Forum.

Alessandra Lanciotti is the national councilor for the professional companies sector of the FNAS (National Federation of Street Arts) and director of the Furio Camillo Theater in Rome and organizer of the international theater and circus review “Battiti”. In 2016, together with Roberta Castelluzzo, she founded “Accademia Materiaviva”, a professional circus theater course. In 2000 she co-founded the company Materiaviva Performance. Alessandra Lanciotti is an actress, dancer acrobat, clown, dancer and trapeze artist, and has graduated in modern literature as well as from the International School of Theater in Rome.

Denis Lafurie has since 2005 been Artistic Director of the National Theatre in Alés, France. The theatre organizes the anual street theatre festival Cratère Surfaces.
