Shangri-Lala
It promises delights of Heaven on Earth but acknowledges that every Utopian possibility has a Dystopian result… A hilarious mashup of ludicrous promises and fatuous plans, experience the withering slabs of realism that the ideals of Utopianism fail to acknowledge.
A participatory, theatrical experience, co-created in local workshops in Helsingør.
The performance moves through 5 different Utopias, hosted by the right, honorable Dr YaYa, benevolent dictator and natural leader, who was discovered as a discarded baby in the reedy marshes of Lake Titicaca in Peru.
His small enthusiastic squad of young ‘Thought Police’ patrol the surrounding streets checking on passing people’s minds…

About the company
Cocoloco has created innovative and allegorical street theatre on streets and in unconventional spaces for 24 years. From a world where Alice in Wonderland meets The Shining, performance troupe Cocoloco presents raucous, hilarious and ever so slightly bent theatre. This is cabaret performance and street theatre with a twist, as they delve into David Lynch’s notebook and present Salvador Dali-esque, truly bizarre street theatre. So much work in street theatre has become saccharin, but Cocoloco remain true to the original ambitions of the genre – street theatre that turns people’s minds… art that changes lives and opinions. Anarchic, eye-catching, quirky.
