Les Planètes

La Ville en Feu (FR)
A cosmic experience under the open sky.

Les Planètes takes you on a journey through the solar system. It is a re-interpretation of Gustav Holst’s symphonic work of the same name – told through a cappella singing, acting, and dance. Ten performers engage in a dialogue with Holst’s music, bringing it out of traditional concert halls and closer to the audience. Each planet is given a musical portrait – with its own colors, energy, and atmosphere – following Holst’s original sequence as the narrative thread.

As something new, the performance begins with an eighth planet: Earth. Since Holst never composed a piece for our own planet, they open with his piece Hymn of the Travellers.

By replacing the orchestra with human voices and movement, a new kind of intimacy emerges – without stage, without distance – where cosmic and interstellar images unfold in the encounter between performers, audience, and space.

Les Planètes is a journey. A musical odyssey through the solar system – from Earth, past Mars, and on towards Neptune.
