King Lear

Hamletscenen + Passepartout Theatre Production (DK)
Shakespeare’s bloody drama as puppet theatre.

Shakespeare’s bloody drama about the vainglorious and greedy King Lear, as a nonverbal, sparkly and hearty puppet version for the whole family.
King Lear has reached his last days of life and wants to divide his kingdom between his three daughters. This he will do according to the amount of care and affection with which the three princesses tend to him. But, how does one recognize love in the realm of the wrecked King?

Two bakers busy baking the birthday cake for King Lear’s party tell the story. In a smooth and humorous way, they manage to mix, knead, bake and serve the dramatic spectacle of which everyone can get a taste of the tragedy. As with all of Shakespeare’s plays this is a grim story that ends in a havoc, but does King Lear realize – after all his mistakes – whether love can be priced?

Duration: 35 min.
