Compagnie Sous X (FR)
Monologue on the fringes of society.

MONOLOGUE: A woman, X, has spent her life spent on the fringes of society. When she dies, she is buried in a common grave. Now she returns. Because no, she’s not better off where she is, she’s not better off dead than alive. Her words act as an attempt to reconcile the dead and the living.

Homeless people in France are more often than not buried directly in the ground, in “common ground” – a euphemistic wording for a common grave. In the very field of death, straight, weeded aisles still draw a line between rich and poor neighborhoods.  Alix Denambride, the founder of Compagnie sous X, attended a funeral of a homeless man, and saw a necessity sprouted from this common ground: that of bringing to light those who are let down by society and buried in a common grave, the indigent section.

TERRES COMMUNES:
Between 2011 and 2013, Emmanuel Vigier directed the webdocumentary Terres Communes. This fragmented film introduces a unique group of citicenz, who have commited themselves to escort homeless people of France to their deaths.

A film without beginning or end, which takes place during four seasons of an indeterminate year of our time. This documentary work continues to question the fragile links between those who are said to be excluded and others, between the living and the dead. Webdocumentary Terres Communes: http://www.terrescommunes.fr/

Alix Denambride met Emmanuel shortly after her visit to common lands. They started a collaboration, animated by the desire to build a theatrical form on the street, in the street.

From reality came the fiction.

Age: From 10 years
Duration: 60 min.

About the compagny

The Compagnie sous X was created with the desire to understand the performing arts as a multiple identity. Piloting a plural aesthetic devoted to new languages, we intend to explore different forms of theatre through writing and staging. Compagnie sous X is also interested in adapting to non-theatrical spaces.
