City Horses

Byström Källblad (SWE)
Dance meets public sculpture.

You see them everywhere; the statues of kings and warriors by horse. Stoic. Magnificent. Silently gazing out over the world. But where are the women? This was the starting point for choreographer Anna Källblad and artist Helena Byström’s work City Horses.

At PASSAGE Festival, the unbridled cortège is unleashed onto streets and squares. City Horses is a site specific dance performance that takes place in the streets and squares of Elsinore.

Here dance meets the public sculptures you pass on a daily basis in parks and squares. It becomes a choreography for the city, in constant movement – about power, existence and the female body in public space. A gallop through cities, a living monument in constant motion, celebrating female courage and power of all ages.

Completely on par with the horsemen on the statues around Europe.

Duration: 120 min.
